Wow!! I literally visited Nottingham for the open day this weekend and I loved it there. In regards to studying maths, I'm scared that I don't have enough natural ability for maths specifically. Like I'm decently clever in general but I'm definitely not a born mathematician. However I am really interested in it and hard work has got me top grades during a levels & gcses - how different really is uni maths??? Is it unrealistic for me to commit to that??? I've heard it's lots more abstract than school maths and I'm worried I'll find it impossible. Thank you!!! Xxx

There are a million different accents in the Black, let alone Birmingham! The Black Country and Birmingham is wonderful.

Under grads should accept ANY college that accepts them; assuming it has their major. I also recommend that if a prospective student has money concerns not apply to Any Cambridge college. Why? Short of money creates stress and Cambridge studies are quite intense! The combination of money worries and strenuous studies is just too much stress!

This young lady is very articulate and isn't really speaking in a Black Country accent so if you're from overseas or outside of the area, this won't be very helpful to the ear! Black Country is quite flat & vowel-y (not a real word) but the emphasis on some vowels. Also some pronouns are quite shocking - instead of saying "She's off to the shops." You're more likely to hear "Her's of to tha' shops". The only example I think of would have been the fictional character Amy Turtle from Crossroads - "But I aye going there"

My Dad always used to say that you should be proud of your accent wherever you're from because basically that's where you are from, there is nothing wrong with it, in fact, the Yorkshire accent is far more broad. I was born, raised and still live in Willenhall.

Very inspiring story. Currently in year 9, I have ADHD and dyscaulia, so I’ve always been better at English. I struggle with maths a lot, I’m normally an A+ - A student but in maths I’m typically a b or b+. Any advice to get better aside from revision , I want to badly, I never understand my teacher, which is very frustrating at times.

Thank you so much for this. I want to start a degree involving maths (I haven’t yet got a degree due to my ADHD which was undiagnosed) but I initially struggled with it at school. Got an A at GCSE with lots of hard work but didn’t take it further. I am nervous to start a degree involving maths as it will be hard work but this gave me hope!

That’s the beautiful thing about maths, more than any subject I feel like you get back what you put in

Schools also pushed it out of us. The amount of times I heard "speak properly" was unreal. The black country accent is seen as one of the oldest accents in the UK. I love my black country accent, and when I'm with my mates it flows so freely, but when I'm at work it's definitely restricted
